For six days at the beginning of the month, 13 college athletes lived in a house together, ran soccer and basketball clinics in two communities of need for about 150 kids, studied Jesus' interaction with the poor, and looked at how the concepts of relocation, reconciliation, and redistribution help believers to live out the gospel. AIA's first ever Urban Project-Lexington (UP-LEX) was a success!

I took an 18-day trip to Bulgaria where I am the acting director. We had a coach's clinic for the Basketball Federation and 130 coaches came. The two Christian coaches from America did a great job. We also had two clinics for potential sports ministry volunteers and set up a Bulgarian basketball team which played games in Ohio and Tennessee this summer.

God has taught me SO much about His sovereignty and power at LA Urban Project-WOW! In the midst of what frequently felt like hopeless situations, He showed me about the power of His presence and the strength of His love for those we were ministering to-both our students and the children we were working with at Nickerson Gardens (largest government subsidized housing project west of the Mississippi River). One of the most life changing months of my life!

After three days with a recent corporate group on our course, one of the participants came up to me and told me, "Before I came here, I was kind of struggling spiritually. But when I heard you talk about your faith in the first ten minutes that you were with us, it gave me more confidence. I want to be more bold in my witness to my co-workers." For me this was a big encouragement, because with this corporate group, I am not able to share a spiritual message other than when I introduce them to what AIA is about. So to hear that God is still using me in their lives in spite of the limitations on what I can say verbally was a testimony to God's power to use us beyond what we can see.

It was really fun to see my daughter on an AIA project (Brazil with soccer) which let her see how AIA can work and have her share her testimony in public, etc. She had an amazing trip. She says it was life-changing for her in many ways. She learned how to worship God in everything she does, including soccer, and she loved the opportunity to play soccer with the college-age girls, even though she is still a senior in high school. I was also glad to be able to be away from the office, knowing that things will continue to function well with the finance people we have in place.
