We were blessed to have 12 students attend camp this year. One girl who came, Hannah, just finished her first year at UVA and really only came to a few meetings. I barely knew her, but when I picked her up at the airport I learned her parents were in the middle of a messy divorce and, in fact, her mom just bought her ticket that day because she didn't want Hannah to go. Hannah's "normal" family took a hit this year when her father was sent to prison for a terrible crime (which he is guilty of). Hannah's always believed in God and wanted to turn to Him, but it was at camp, through the Principle talks, especially "Hurtin for Certain," where she saw who the Lord really is. She learned she is never alone and has all the strength she needs in the Lord. Running down the hill Hannah was crying and tired, but as she came up she said, "Goodbye Daddy," verbally releasing the guilt and responsibility she felt for his crime and felt the Lord giving her strength to finish. Her tears were gone and she says at that point she finally surrendered her life to the Lord.
Isn't it amazing what the Lord does on the mountain?

We had a few events recently:
1. Green Bay Packer Night at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh : Aaron Kampman, Kabeer Gbaja-Bimila, Colin Cole and Brandon Miree were the Packers who came to speak for us. We had a panel discussion to a standing room only crowd of 250-300 college students. We had 40 decisions for Christ and 50 who wanted more information about how to have a personal relationship with Christ. We joined with CCC to do the follow-up. Aaron Kampman presented the gospel and I took them through the prayer. We had drawings (from comment cards for door prizes signed by the Packers) and collected over 95% of the comment cards.
2. UW La Crosse AIA held an "I agree with..." outreach. They had two weeks leading up to the night where Teddy, a student, explained what he believed and gave a gospel message. They had some opposition which only succeeded in more interest.150 college students showed up and 30 prayed to receive Christ.
3. UW Green Bay held a movie night, showing "Facing the Giants." We had Aaron Kampman (defensive end for Packers) and his wife speak for us at the movie.

The film crew for the Olympic Film has traveled to Kenya , Rwanda , Morocco , Sri Lanka , Indonesia and Philadelphia to interview Olympians from around the world. The following is part of the story from Disi, a runner from Rwanda, who started to describe the last day he saw his father: "One day in 1994 my father called the family together-10 of us-and said, 'We are all going to pray together because we will die today. We need to prepare to go to heaven.'" The others prayed but Disi, 14, ran outside and hid in the garden. The rebels came and killed the other nine. "Every day I ask myself why the nine who prayed died and God spared me." He fled to Burundi , came back and joined the army. For several years he turned his back on God before returning to his faith. So powerful. Then he ran in the 10,000 meters in the 2004 Olympics.
