I led the three student interns on the AIA Colorado Project this summer. These girls came with a huge desire to see God use them in others' lives. They were so thankful to be discipled (mentored in their faith) as most of them do not have disciplers (mentors) back on their campuses. We had two ministry training times in order to develop them to lead when they go back to campus. We focused on the "how to's" of discipleship and leading a small group. In these training times, they were fired up to have an impact on their peers back on campus. Two of them are praying about joining AIA as staff members. Working with the interns was a major highlight of my summer.

Things were kind of light this month and I didn't have a summer assignment because of the birth of our son Wyatt. I read a good book by Mark Cahill called "One Thing You Can't Do in Heaven." The one thing referenced is telling non-Christians about Christ. God really convicted me to talk about my faith on the airplane rides to and from Colorado. I had six different opportunities to tell others about Christ. All the conversations went well as I tried to listen well and ask good questions.

We had six high school runners make first-time commitments to follow Jesus at TUFF Camp, a one-week cross country camp for high school students. It was so fun to be a part of that and have my daughter help staff the camp along with the other project participants. It was a good month of ministry.

It was so encouraging to see God use me in the lives of girls on the Cameroon track & field tour. I love when God is using me and I don't even realize it until later. On one occasion, I was talking with one girl, Sarah, about a time in my life when I prayed that God would make Philippians 3:7-11 true in my life. I later found out that God used that passage the day after our chat to bring Sarah to a place of being willing to completely surrender all areas of her life to Christ and truly consider it all as loss compared to knowing Him. How sweet it was to know that God had used me to lead Sarah to a place in the Bible that would bring her to a moment of complete surrender.
